A Night of Radiohead

May 21, 2017

Radiohead fans gathered at First Avenue's Mainroom last night to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the band's junior album OK Computer. It was kicked off by a rendition of In Rainbows, followed by Kid A, then finished with OK Computer. Each band played the entire setlist of their album all the way through, with some additional encores. Throughout each performance various musicians and instruments were featured to make each performance as realistic as possible. The performance of In Rainbows was especially pleasing due to the inclusion of a cello and violin for the whole performance. During Kid A’s National Anthem, the band brought out a trombone and a berry sax to create an amazing jam session, just like the one off of the album. Unexpectedly, the band that performed Kid A whipped out an amazing rendition of 2+2=5 just before leaving.

By the time the curtain rose for the third time, the audience was dying of anticipation to hear OK Computer. The first notes of Airbag were played and the show was off! The band played excellent renditions of Paranoid Android and Let Down. The performance of Exit Music for a Film was also very noteworthy. As the night came to an end and the album finished the band clearly still had more songs to play. Beckoning to the audience, they played an encore of Fake Plastic Trees, There There, and of course: a semi-ironic version of Creep.
