Tonight, our playlist was based around the Pitchfork Music Festival happening this weekend. Seeing as a lot of Radio K people are going (myself included), I thought I would give a nod to it. There was one listener who called in and said that they liked a song from The Range that I played. I appreciated that!
Always remember that if you want to talk about the music I’m playing, you can call in at 612-626-4770. Tune in next week for an electronic variety shift, with music from The Soft Pink Truth, Massive Attack, Ricky Eat Acid, and more.
This week in electronic music:
- Ricky Eat Acid released a free EP last week. It’s more energetic than Three Love Songs, the LP that he released earlier this year and ended up on our favorites of the first half of 2014.
- Gui Boratto announced his fourth full-length album to be released on Kompakt.
- Ryuichi Sakamoto, Japanese musician and member of the Yellow Magic Orchestra, among other things, was diagnosed with throat cancer. He has cancelled all his remaining tour dates to focus on recovery.
- DJ Dodger Stadium, the duo of Jerome LOL and Samo Sound Boy, wrote a Lonely Planet guide on Los Angeles to coincide with their new album Friend of Mine (which is great, by the way).
