June 3, 2014

Jun 03, 2014

This week's theme: unsettling, abrasive, generally "scary" tracks. However, scary is relative.

There was one album that would've fit very, very well within this week's set, but I gave it a listen too late. The album was Ben Frost's new album, AURORA, which veers into harsh noise/industrial territory at times. Frost worked with Tim Hecker on his latest album Virgins, and it shows on AURORA. It's a very interesting listen, and I would definitely recommend it to people who like music that uses noise as an element.

And speaking of noise-centric music, that new clipping. album would have fit in well this week! (It's classified more as hip-hop but the beats are very Autechre-like because of their abrasive sound.) It's out next week and already on rotation here at Radio K! I highly recommend giving the full album a listen over at NPR.
