K.U.K. wubs you and THE SURPRISE IS REVEALED

Feb 17, 2014

On Monday night Matt and Madeline explored some electronica, house and bass music, highlighing up and coming artists and those that are still popular on the scene today. The night also kicked off with a little taste of OUR SURPRISE which was revealed later in the episode around 9 pm.

In the first hour Madeline slowly transitioned from a sligthly tamer side of club music to some very intense trap style projects. Among those features were remixed tracks from The 1975 and Pixel Fix.

We showed off a track of particular interest coming from Disclosure and remixed by aussie, Flume. "You & Me" is a combination of stellar vocals, excessive bass and a volume that phases in and out. The rather orchestral track can be found here:                                https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OUkkaqSNduU

As the 8'o clock hour progessed, everyone was thinking, "HERE COME THE WUBS". Sharing jams from Hudson Mohawke, Disgraceland and Rustie, the night really picked up.

AND THEN SOMETHING AMAZING HAPPENNED

Matt and Madeline revealed their surprise that they'd been hyping for weeks. It was a really brilliant audio clip of Los Campesinos! It was basically a bit from an interview where the boys, Tom and Rob said a little band ID for the show and crakced a few jokes. The clip was acquired from former K.U.K. dj, Alex who had the pleasure of interviewing the group in Chicago. The blokes were extremely candid and willing to send us this little shoutout. Thanks for this kindness to both Alex and the band!

Twenty-one-year-old Sam Smith was also highlighted in this installment of K.U.K. This up and coming artist has already been highly acclaimed and was recognized as a BBC sound of 2014, all before even releasing a full album! Matt says this guy is definitely a force to be reckoned with this year!

And of course Matt threw in some TaylorTime before promptly switching to Knife Party to redeem himself.

Stay tuned next week for more shenanagins and new releases coming from our neighbors across the pond!

Cheers.
