The Romantic period in Western music began about 1800, and lasted until the end of World War I in 1918. This time period was dominated by household names, like Richard Wagner - their music, the kind that has stuck with us. Anyone who has been to a wedding has heard Wagner's "Bridal Chorus" from Lohengrin, or the "Wedding March" from A Midsummer Night's Dream by Felix Mendelssohn. If you watched Looney Tunes as a child, then perhaps you saw Bugs Bunny, dressed in armor and horns, running around to the "Ride of the Valkyries", also by Wagner. Romantic-era composers made an impact on the musical landscape of the Western world, whichl lasts to this day. It is this impact that we celebrate today on Rock Me, Amadeus.
