Fauna Shade

No Nostalgia
Fauna Shade is the music of 22 year-old Scotty Smith from Everett, Washington, along with his pals Richie Owen (drums) and Derek Johnston (Bass). Their brand of bedroom psych-rock combines elements of experimental, effect-driven bedroom pop with a full-blown rock and roll howl. Following the release of the band's debut LP Baton Rouge last May, the band played over 50 shows catching the eyes and ears of the Pacific Northwest, with help from full rotation play from KEXP and 107.7 The End. The band returned quickly with Floral Hall, a four-track EP, emitting new depths in writing and delivery. The single, "No Nostalgia" offers listeners a first glimpse into the sonic impact and energy-driven power of their live show experience. The song was written as a call to action and reminder to singer Scotty Smith that our time is now, and our choices in the present will determine whether we can look back from our golden years with pride. These songs are appreciated by a broad audience but have a special place in the heart of the lonely soul walking home alone in the wee hours of the morn. While some may listen to help perpetuate their youthful indiscretion, others will simply find a safe home in the music and its uncorrupted, unique sounds. The Floral Hall EP caught fire early with attention from Consequence of Sound, KEXP and others in anticipation of a big year for the band that includes Sasquatch! Music Festival.
