The Setlist - curated under the link between artists

Hanging out in Canada for the first hour of the show puts us with the following group. Broken Social Scene with their rotating and expanding cast of friends puts out members of Do Make Say Think, Fiest, Years, and a founding member Brendan Canning. KC Accidental was sorely missed from this show as it preceded BSS. Moving towards Ontario we hit Godspeed You! Black Emperor who shares members with A Silver Mt. Zion, Fly Pan Am, and Esmine.  Those last three take the French-Canadian influence in the names of their songs & vibe - there is a French-Canadian vibe right?

Broken Social Scene | Love and Mathematics | Feel Good Lost | Imperial Records
Brendan Canning | New Zealand Tap Dancing Finals | You Gots 2 Chill | Stop Start
Do Make Say Think | Hooray! Hooray! Hooray! | Winter Hymn Country Hymn Secret Hymn | Constellation
Godspeed You! Black Emperor | World Police Friendly Fire | Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven | Kranky
A Silver Mt. Zion | Stumble then Rise on Some Awkward Morning | He has Left us Alone but Shafts of Light Sometimes Grace the Corner of our Rooms |
Fly Pan Am | Et Aussi L'eclairage de Plastique au Centre de Tout ces Compartiments Lateraux | Fly Pan Am | Constellation
Esmerine | Red Fire Alarm | If Only a Sweet Surrender to the Nights to Come Be True | Resonant

Mathy instrumentals from Don & Battles come from a shared member - I bet he can play really fast.

Don Caballero | You Drink a Lot of Coffee for a Teenager | American Don | Touch and Go
Battles | IPT-2 | EP C | Monitor

Coming from Chicago via Champagne-Urbana are the next trio of music groups.  With American Football's new reunion dates and the Owl's 2nd album in 13 years this crew is making a comeback.

Joan of Arc | MK/BV | Presents Guitar Duets |
Ghosts and Vodka | It's All About Right Then | Addicts and Drunks | Sixgunlover
American Football | The One with the Wurlitzer | American Football | Polyvinyl

Alright - its time to be truthful, I had never listened to Slint prior to this week - everyone was right. A former member, David Pajo, was in both of these projects. From Louiville to Chicago comes the post rock.

Tortoise | It's All Around You | It's All Around You | Thrill Jockey
Slint | For Dinner... | Spiderland | Touch and Go

Aside from being label-mates these two bands have the missing link of Inventions, a new project featuring members of both.

Eluvium | We Say Goodbye to Ourselves | Talk Amongst the Trees | Temporary Residence Ltd.
Explosions in the Sky | Greet Death | Those Who Tell The Truth Shall Die, Those Who Tell the Trush Shall Live Forever | Temporary Residence Ltd.

Upon a listener request I felt compelled to fudge this next link. Gold Panda and Baths have remixed eachothers work, and if that isn't enough - a side project from Gold Panda, Simian Mobile Disco, has a song called "Cerulean" which is the title of that Baths album! WOW, I'm done.

Gold Panda | Same Dream China | Lucky Shiner | Universal
Baths | Maximalist | Cerulean | Tugboat

The man of whimsy, Andrew Bird, has had some help from Dosh on his Armchair Apocrypha release.  Dosh (along with many other local superstars- Andrew Broeder, Jeremy, you know) made up Lateduster, the project of my dreams.

Andrew Bird | Ethio Invention No.1 | I Want to See Pulaski at Night | Wegawam
Lateduster | Grunting and Walking Around in a Circle | Five Easy Pieces |
Dosh | Unto Internity | Milk Money | Graveface

It finally happened - i made a joke of myself - dug myself into a Russian Circle hole. Upon planning for this show I wrote them next to Pelican & Red Sparowes, but the connection wasn't there. I resign. I'm sorry.

Russian Circles | Micah | Enter | Flameshovel

Forgive me for my failures. Next week will be my last.
