Bodies Swaddled Like Dolls (1/12/14)

Jan 13, 2014

This week's show was a certifiable RAGER of fiery avant garde jazz. We payed tribute to fallen greats Brother Yusef Lateef and Amiri Baraka (aka LeRoi Jones). Here's a better radio tribute to Yusef Lateef than mine by WFMU's Doug Schulkind. Here's a eulogy Amiri Baraka wrote for James Baldwin many years ago. We also heard some trancy, dancy South African psych Jazz from! I finally got around to playing some of my favorite tunes from 2013 by Mary Halvorson Septet and Tim Berne's Snakeoil. Thanks for supporting the show, everyone. Peace, Love, and New Years!
