Jubilee by Japanese Breakfast
Jubilee is a new direction for Japanese Breakfast, a marked change from Soft Sound’s From Another Planet and Psychopomp’s melancholy reflections on pain and loss in favor of a positive, hopeful lens for the future. In preparation for Jubilee, Japanese Breakfast’s Michelle Zauner studied music theory and piano in an effort to improve her songwriting range — her dedication to which is evident throughout the album. Complete with songwriting and production collaborations from Jack Tatum of Wild Nothing and (Sandy) Alex G, Jubilee is Japanese Breakfast’s most sonically diverse album yet.
