Kevin Krauter

Kevin Krauter’s debut album Toss Up displays effective emotion and groove.

Indiana native Kevin Krauter is a leading force in Indiana’s up and coming music scene. Krauter has already developed success with pop-rock group Hoops, and has also released two solo EPs in past years. On June 15th, he released his debut album Toss Up via Bayonet Records, wearing his influences, both contemporary and international, on his sleeve and displaying melancholy songwriting and groovy instrumentation.

Krauter certainly carried over a lot of techniques from the music created with Hoops. The washed out sound is present, and the Lo-Fi energy makes its appearances. The frequent use of vintage keyboards add a dimension that conveys the album’s melancholy feel, and compliments Krauter’s silky vocals beautifully. He described his process on this album as him getting more “nit picky” than previous projects and paying closer attention to how the overall sound turned out.

Kevin released three singles prior to the release of his album in “Rollerskate,” “Keep Falling in Love,” and “Suddenly” that previewed the album’s sound and lyrical approaches well. Toss Up is only the first full length album of Krauter’s solo career, and it’s a hell of a kick-starter.
