Hella Love

"Hella Love" by Marinero

download_1.jpeg

Hella Love is Marinero coming into his own. Spanish for sailor, Jess Sylvester adopted the moniker of Marinero as a nod to his seafaring father and his childhood in the San Francisco Bay Area— a history he explores deeply on Hella Love. The sophomore album’s tracks weave together an informal love letter to his hometown, rich with influences from his Chicanx heritage and the 1960s Tropicalia movement as well as subtle yet powerful social commentary. Sylvester proves that he is a “Marinero” in his own right on Hella Love, capable of leaving his former home in search of another, without forgetting his roots.
