Thee Sacred Souls, by Thee Sacred Souls

thee sacred souls

The long awaited debut LP from Thee Sacred Souls,a band notorious for their mixing the easygoing grace of sweet '60s soul with the grit and groove of early '70s R & B, has just been released. There’s a classically retro sound to the band. The melodies are sweet and the instrumentals are well composed. When first listening to the album, I was shocked to see that the members of the group were all young 20-somethings and not older veteran musicians. Songs like “Can I call you Rose” and “Lady Love” teleport you to the past. With notable inspirations from Chicano, Memphis, and Chicago Soul, Thee Sacred Souls are spearheading a new wave of R & B and I couldn’t be happier.
